I was only two hours behind when I left Austin. I really didn't stop more than was necessary on the 9 hour drive so not much to report back.
Somewhere in Louisiana.
It's difficult to see in these photos but the Atchafalaya Basin (bayou) water level was really high. Like just a couple feet below the highway. It's crazy because the area is actually having a drought right now but the Mississippi up north is flooding. Anyway, made into New Orleans around 9pm and found my mother at a nearby bar. We had a lovely late night dinner at a place called Mia's Balcony.
Next: French Quarter and The Flaming Torch
